More culture in Bushwick

So last night my roommate and I were looking for something to do when we decided upon a weekly event at The 3rd Ward art gallery.  Every Wednesday they host a drink and draw.  It's from 8-11, $10 at the door and you are provided with all you can drink PBR and refreshments as well as a live figure model to sketch in whatever medium you so choose.  The event was surprisingly well attended (about 30) which I'm told is average.  There was good music and a friendly encouraging atmosphere. I would post some of my sketches but it's been awhile since I've done live figure studies and they aren't too great.  The 3rd Ward itself is actually an amazing facility an art gallery primarily they offer digital media workshops as well as a wood shop and welding facility.
Located in a quiet low key warehouse district about a five minute walk from the Morgan stop on the L, it is only minutes away from Ad Hoc as well as a host of great dives.  Including a nice place with friendly patrons and bar staff called The Wreck,  who's highlight may be their amazing bathroom.  Upon descending a multicolored graffiti covered staircase you then come upon the entrance to the most beautiful and simultaneously disgusting bathroom imaginable. It is a glorious mind fuck and an entertaining place to urinate if you are even slightly intoxicated.  But I digress, all and all the night served to reinforce my belief that for authentic under the radar cutting edge culture in Brooklyn, Bushwick is where it's at.
In other news this is a personal art blog and I realize I have not posted any new art in awhile but rest assured I am consciously prying from the depths of my brain a creative renaissance.  I have been toiling in my free time over a new series of paintings on paper (as space is limited) so here are the first couple I've finished in that series.
